— storyteller, journalist, listener, video wrangler, lover of real stories about real people. I believe the best stories don’t start with a camera — they start with a question, a pause, a moment of listening. I’ve chased stories across Asia with a video camera, taught hundreds of journalism students how to tell their own stories, and somewhere along the way realized: everyone has a story, but not everyone knows how to tell it. That’s where I come in. I turn moments into meaning, chaos into clarity, and goals into stories that move people.

Hi, I’m Diana!

I've always been interested in the stories of people around me.

My family, my community, my city. I know all of our stories are connected and our humanity is shared. I'm passionate about uncovering the essence of people's stories. I got my start in publishing when I started newsprint magazine in college. I had no money and no journalism experience. The only thing I had was a strong desire to share real stories to a wider audience. I gathered a small team of passionate and talented folks and we produced a nationally recognized college magazine. It well designed with bold graphics and photography, but rooted in the fantastical stories of social justice.

I received my formal journalism training at UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. I majored in new media and video production. After graduation I worked at the Wall Street Journal Asia headquarters in Hong Kong as a video producer and multimedia editor. I got to travel all around Asia with a video camera to interview and film a wide range of stories - from celebrities to politicians to executives to everyday people. At the WSJ I produced and edited hundreds of stories. Some of them provided by the wire service or print reporters and some are original stories pitched and produced by me.

After the WSJ, I left to be a lecturer and capstone advisor at the University of Hong Kong's Journalism and Media Studies Centre. I designed and taught video new production courses, magazine production, digital journalism, photojournalism and motion graphics courses. I've taught hundreds of graduate students in my tenure there and I continue to teach and mentor today.

Listening and processing is crucial to fully understanding an issue. Before I pick up a camera, I talk to as many people as I can, read everything there is to know about a topic. I brainstorm and create a map of all the different kinds of people impacted by the topic. I interview everyone in that circle to gain new perspectives. It is after many hours of research and talking to real people, that I finally start to uncover the true story.

This process of engaged listening is how we create compelling videos that inform and inspire.

Our teams are built for each project, drawing on talented collaborators around the world, all of whom are experts in their craft
